da-dah!

Well, what a week, rehearsing every day and 3 gigs so far, which amazingly all went well, only one more tomorrow which (touch wood) will go well. Rehearsals have been good, stressful, busy, full, brain-aching and all that happens when people gather in a room and get creative.

I did a dada comedy night on tuesday. yes that's what i said, it was amazing, a mix of performance poetry, characters and improvised monologues. Above is a picture of the set that 2 girls made for the night. Most comedy nights go as far as to provide a microphone for a gig. So having anything as glamorous as a set was quite wonderful. It was all made from newspapers, and the idea was that it would fall apart and decay as the night went on, which it did. Not sure how dada that is to conform to your own rules, but never mind. I improvised a character which was momentarilly terrifying just before i went on, but actually went ok, and was very liberating to not have a script to stick to, but also quite hard. i didn't have a ending so i asked them to start quietly talking about how good i was as i walked slowly backwards away from them. it seemed to work.

Today i finally caught up on emails and blogs, and found this picture below. Katie has done it again with her beautiful 100 pets projects, he is so cute, i'm thinking about stealing him by post, i might send envelopes filled with bacon and my address, i'm sure he'd get there eventually.
